A memo or tag is typically a numeric string which is used to accurately identify the recipient of a transaction on a centralized exchange. This detail is required for crypto which uses Destination Tag technology, such as Ripple (XRP), Stellar (XLM), Cosmos (ATOM) etc.
When you deposit crypto to your OKX portfolio, you must enter the designated memo or tag, in addition to the deposit address. Failure to do so may cause your crypto to be lost permanently.
How do I know if a memo or tag is required?
When initiating a deposit of crypto, a memo or tag field may appear on the next screen. If it doesn't appear, then it's not necessary for the transaction.
