瑞波币是由OpenCoin公司发行的虚拟货币，称作Ripple Credits，又称作XRP，中文名为瑞波币。 Ripple是世界上第一个开放的支付网络，通过这个支付网络可以转账任意一种货币，简便易行快捷，交易确认在几秒以内完成，交易费用几乎是零，没有所谓的跨行异地以及跨国支付费用。 Ripple开放式支付系统是一个虚拟货币网络（分布式的P2P清算网络）、未来的电子支付平台。2004年，RyanFugger就推出了Ripple的第一个实现版本，它的目标是构建一个去中心化的、准许任何人创建自家货币的虚拟货币系统。目前Ripple由OpenCoin公司（目前改名为RippleLabs）开发、运行、维护。
