KLAY tokenomics
KLAY tokenomics are structured with an indefinite maximum supply, allowing for the potential minting of an infinite amount of KLAY. However, there is currently a total supply of 5,769,915,359.77 KLAY tokens.
With each new block added to the blockchain, 9.6 KLAY coins are minted. These newly minted coins and the transaction fees are collected in that block as the "block reward."
The block reward, which consists of the newly minted KLAY coins and transaction fees, is then allocated to various entities within the Klaytn ecosystem. This includes the Klaytn Governance Council, responsible for governing the network; the Klaytn Growth Fund, dedicated to fostering ecosystem growth; and the Klaytn Improvement Reserve, aimed at supporting platform improvement and development.
Distribution of KLAY
The distribution of newly-mined KLAY is as follows:
- 34 percent is reserved as a block reward for the Klaytn Governance Council.
- 54 percent is allocated to the Klaytn Growth Fund (KGF).
- 12 percent is designated as part of the Klaytn Improvement Reserve (KIR).
